Each case study shows the real data, the workflow and its limitations.

3D terrain render of the Laos exploration property with target areas outlined

Project 1 · Satellite remote sensing

Satellite-Based Gold Exploration Targeting

Central Laos · ASTER, Sentinel-2, SRTM

A desk-based screening workflow that narrowed a ~10 km² property from 253 spectral anomalies to five ranked field targets, using ASTER alteration indices, terrain analysis and regional geology.

Project 2 · Terrestrial LiDAR

Terrestrial LiDAR of a Yellowstone Geyser

Anemone Geyser, Upper Geyser Basin · Velodyne LiDAR

Raw handheld Velodyne captures processed with SLAM into a 974,221-point cloud and a 0.18 m elevation model, with a written protocol so the workflow can be repeated.

Project 3 · Drone photogrammetry & field geochemistry

Drone Survey of an Active Volcanic Caldera

Nisyros, Greece · DJI drone, Agisoft Metashape, QGIS

Drone imagery from two field campaigns built into 5 cm orthomosaics and 10 cm DEMs, combined with 770 ground-temperature and 92 CO2 flux measurements. The 2022 work was used in a peer-reviewed paper.

3D model of the SP Crater lava flow coloured by thickness

Project 4 · Terrain modelling & volume analysis

Lava Flow Volumes for Volcanic Hazard Assessment

San Francisco Volcanic Field, Arizona · SfM, ALOS PALSAR, QGIS

A drone-derived DEM of the SP Crater lava flow, used to measure a 0.29 km³ flow volume within 11% of the published estimate. Flows and vents were also mapped across the volcanic field as inputs to a probabilistic hazard assessment.

What I do

Reconstruct

Drone photogrammetry

Processing drone imagery with Structure-from-Motion into orthomosaics, point clouds and DEMs.

Scan

LiDAR processing

SLAM processing of terrestrial LiDAR, point-cloud cleanup and gridding into elevation models.

Detect

Satellite analysis

Multispectral and radar imagery, band-ratio indices and terrain analysis for mapping and exploration targeting.

Check

Data QA

Finding coordinate-system, datum and processing errors before they reach a map, and stating each map's real limits.

Software: QGIS · Agisoft Metashape · ENVI · LiDAR360 · LidarView · GDAL · Python · R
Data: UAV imagery · terrestrial LiDAR · ASTER · Sentinel-2 · SRTM · ALOS PALSAR · hyperspectral
Field methods: ground-penetrating radar (GPR) · diffuse CO₂ flux · thermocouple temperature surveys · handheld XRF · borehole logging

Experience

B.S. Geoscience, Drexel University, 2026

  1. 2022 – 2026

    Volcanology Research Assistant

Academy of Natural Sciences & Vanderkluysen Lab, Drexel University

Generated DEMs and orthophotos from UAV Structure-from-Motion data. Computed lava flow volumes in GIS for 28 cinder cones to support a probabilistic hazard assessment. Sampled hydrothermal gas and ground temperatures with international teams on Nisyros, Greece. Taught and mentored remote sensing labs on LiDAR and SfM workflows.

  2. 2025

    Geotechnical Engineer Co-op

    Pennoni, Philadelphia

Operated ground-penetrating radar (GPR) as the primary field representative on multi-day site investigations, alongside borehole drilling and test pits. Performed 150+ infiltration tests to PA, NJ and Philadelphia standards, and digitized field logs.

  3. 2024

    Research Experience for Undergraduates

    Harvard University, Drabon Lab

Analyzed and visualized PM2.5 air-quality data in Python. Also used silicon and oxygen isotopes, rare earth elements and zircon trace elements to study magma evolution and crustal thickness.

  4. 2023

    Environmental Research Intern

    Philadelphia Water Department

Calibrated and maintained YSI water-quality monitoring equipment at urban stream sites and collected data for watershed management.
